📖 Preface

This page is for everyone who never really understood mathematics – and for everyone who has always loved it but never knew why.

Mathematics is not a collection of formulas that you memorize and forget again after the exam. Mathematics is a language. The most precise language humanity has ever invented. A language you can use to describe the universe, build bridges, calculate planets, and understand music.

I wrote this page because for a long time I believed mathematics just wasn't for me. Until I understood: the problem wasn't mathematics. The problem was how it was explained.

“Don't learn the formula. Learn the principle. You'll forget the formula. The principle stays.” — Timea Tóth

That's why I tell mathematics differently here: as a story. As a journey. Together with two unusual companions.

🌟 The Story – Erklärus & Liri

This story begins with a boy who can't sleep because he has too many questions – and a star who has lost his way and can't find his way home.

The boy's name is Erklärus. Nine years old, glasses, notebook always in hand. The star's name is Liri: warm, golden – and has lost her way.

To find her way home, Liri needs someone who can explain the language of numbers to her. And that's exactly what Erklärus can do.

So begins a journey through mathematics. Chapter by chapter. Question by question. From the very first number to the equations that describe the universe.

Each chapter is a new night. Each night brings a new question. And every question brings Erklärus and Liri one step closer to home.

How the two of them met on that first November night, you'll read in the very first chapter. 👉
💡 How to use this page

Each chapter contains a story, explanations, and interactive exercises. You can click on numbers, count stars, and discover solutions – all right here, without pen and paper.

Next to every heading you'll find a small speaker button 🔊 – click it and the text will be read aloud to you.

The chapters build on each other – but each one also makes sense on its own. If you get stuck somewhere: read the story again (or have it read to you). Erklärus explains everything twice. He's patient.

✨ One last thing

Mathematics has no end. After every chapter, a new one is waiting. After every answer comes a new question. That's not a warning – that's the best part about it.

Erklärus knows this. Liri suspects it. And maybe you'll know it too, soon.
